And the results are in...

We did it! The 5k was this weekend and it was a success. We were a little worried because we didn't train on the road last week because of the cold weather. We trained on the elliptical until Thursday and then we forced ourselves into the cold to do a 5k practice. It was so cold and the wind was cutting us so our time was 32 minutes, not what I was hoping for. Saturday morning when we woke up the temp was 35 degrees...brr! We ate a light breakfast and bundled up. There were about 200 people running, and several to note including the man in the mermaid pants and the crazy girl in a tank top and shorts. We stretched and hung out outside so we could adjust to the cold. I got off to a good start toward the front and I never looked back. I left Jeremy at the beginning but he got back with me at about .5 miles. It was so cold at the beginning and I thought I wasn't going to be able to keep moving but I started warming up after about 5 minutes and I was comfortable until mile 2 and I got really hot, too hot, and I almost puked. I had on a long sleeved under armor type shirt and a fleece so I decided to take off the fleece except my number was pinned to my fleece and my ipod armband was around my fleece so I was trying to deal with all that and run which slowed me down. We ended up finishing the race as #34 and #35 overall and we had our best time ever - 27:30! I was suppr excited and SO proud of Jeremy since this wasn't even his thing but he stick with it and did so well. We both placed in our division. Not bad for our first run. I think Jeremy is out though, he got sick after the race but I am ready for another!
On another note, my surgery is tomorrow at 7:15. We are sitting at Jackson hospital right now waiting to do all the pre op stuff.
