cleaning time

Last Monday Jeremy was working on something outside and I was inside editing wedding pictures when I heard Jeremy talking to someone outside. I assumed it was the neighbors so I continued working, well about 2 minutes later Jeremy comes in and says to me "Can you please go talk to these people?" I asked him why and what about and he said that I just needed to deal with them. I wasn't too happy to have to stop what I was doing and go deal ith whatever he was avoiding but I reluctently got up and walked outside. I walked out to find 2 teenage girls (17-18 years old) standing in my driveway. They start talking to me about how they are doing something for school and what not and didn't I go to college, my husband said we went to Troy, blah, blah, blah and I am thinking "just get to the point". So they ask me if they can come in my house and clean a room and do a demo for us and how it helps them earn money for school but it's free, I don't have to pay. Now this might be a good time to mention that these girls did not look like they were dressed to clean anything in my house, they looked more like they were going to a club. I tell them that we are not interested but they would not give up, they told me it would only take 15 minutes, that they could come back later that night, they begged and pleaded until I just had to be rude and say no and walk inside and close the door. I really think that Jeremy might have let them in because he didn't understand why I was so adimate about not letting them inside. But, really?? For all we know their boyfriends could have sent them to spy out our house so they could come back later and clean us out. I know that's terrible, but these days you never know especially since they were being so persistent and come on, we all know that nothing in life is truly free.
So, fast forward to Friday, I am talking to my mother in law and she tells us about these people that showed up at her house Sunday night and asked the same thing. Unfortunately for her, my father in law answered the door and let them in, 2 and a half hours later they were leaving. They made a mess in their kitchen trying to clean the tile and kept trying to sell them a vaccum cleaner.
I am so glad we said no!
