Boy, how time flies! It seems like just yesterday when Mr. Todd was telling me that I was going to get to go to New York on the Jr./Sr. trip and now it is finally here. In 28 hours I will be loading up with 80 teens and about 40 adults to head to Atlanta to fly to NY! I am stoked! I have never been before and even though I am a chaperone and its a short trip, I know we will hit the high points and it will be a blast! I am almost all packed. I am taking half a day off tomorrow for a chiropractor appointment and to hang out with Jeremy/finish packing. It is so hard to decide what to bring because it's still cold there (who am I kidding, it's cold here today, too!) and I want to make sure I have room in my suitcase to bring some things home, like a Coach purse!
We have a jam packed schedule and much of it involves the outdoors. Luckily, I invested in this 3-in-1 Columbia jacket a while back and it will be easy to pack but still keep me warm. We will arrive in New Jersey (we are actually staying in Jersey City, just 5 miles from Manhattan) around lunchtime on Thursday. After we check-in and eat lunch we are heading to mid-town for the Top of the Rock Observation Deck which has 360 views of the city, then dinner in Manhattan Mall, a double decker bus tour, and a stop at the World Trade Center. Friday morning starts off bright and early at the Today Show (look for a bright pink poster board!), followed by breakfast in Rockefeller Plaza, shopping in China Town/Little Italy, St. Patrick's Cathedral, FAO Schwartz, Apple Store and dinner in Times Square. Saturday will be filled with a trip to Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, NBC Studio tour and the Broadway showing of Lion King. Sunday morning before we fly home we will attend the Easter service at Manhattan Church of Christ, walk through Central Park, view the Easter Parade on 5th Ave. and have lunch at Grand Central Station. Whew! I need an IV of caffeine just thinking about doing all of this! And...I am not feeling too hot right now, my allergies are going crazy so pray that I get well SOON!!!
Can't wait to post pics and tell you all about it!

How fun! If you see anyone from the Today Show give them a wave from us. :) I hear that Lester Holt of Weekend Today goes to Manhattan C of C. Maybe you'll see him there.
My brother and sister-in-law have lived there for several years (right now they are in Brooklyn, but lived in the East Village before). First time tourist tips:
1)Carry a handbag that keeps your hands free (Kavu...)2)Restrooms are in short supply...go anytime you pass one! 3)When in China Town, you WILL be approached by people at crosswalks that will invade your personal space while whispering to you about following them for some good merchandise buys--obviously, don't follow them anywhere! 4)wear sensible shoes 5) carry more small $bills$ like one's and five's for taxi rides/tips/etc.6)Don't event take time to sleep--that city is AWESOME! Soak it all in! Have a fun a safe trip.
