For those of you that know me really well, you know that this has been the most stressful start of the school year for me because of computer and technical issues in my classroom. Work (school) has pretty much taken over my life since the end of July. I have spent every spare moment at home working on things that I can't get to at school for various reasons. In all of this I have neglected quality time with my husband. Not on purpose. It just kinda happened. He has been really supportive and understanding, know who and what I was dealing with here at school. But this weekend was really crazy and Sunday night we had this long talk about my job and how I am feeling about everything. So Monday morning Jeremy tells me to leave all my work at work, not to bring it home Monday night that I was going to have a relaxing night.
Monday was an even more stressful day at school with the severe weather and newspaper deadlines but at his request I left all my work at school. When I got home from work Jeremy was already home (he only worked a half day Monday) and there were flowers waiting for me at the door with a note that says "Come in and relax, Dinner will be served at 5:45". So I came in and put on my pjs (it was raining and I was wet and what is better than pjs on a rainy day!). We sat on the couch and watched TV for awhile and Jeremy got up about 5:30 to start on dinner. (Let me interject here to say that my husband can cook, however I am psycho about planning meals and I am a fair weather eater, meaning the weather affects my appetite and so I had planned to have leftover veggie soup for dinner because it suited my mood and the weather.)
He went into the kitchen and closed the door to be all secretive. He made the soup and then came and got me and told me to come have a seat at the dining room (which we only use on special occasions). He had set the table with our nice tablecloth and lit candles. He walked in with soup and crackers and then came back with 2 glasses of sparkling red grape juice. Then we had cookies and milk for dessert. He had gone to Wal-Mart earlier and bought me some more of my favorite bubble bath so after dinner he ran the bath for me so I could soak while he cleaned up.
Now, I know that this wasn't anything fancy or extravagant but it was very sweet and thoughtful for him to make me feel so special on just and ordinary night. And I just had to brag on how sweet my husband is. And the relaxing night worked. I haven't been near as stressed this week as I have been the past few weeks.
