Ok, so after Monday night I was a slacker on what was going on and now it is Sunday and I am trying to get this all down before I forget the details so bear with this lengthy post, there are sure to be some interesting stories in here.
Tuesday:
Tuesday was my 24th birthday. It was kinda weird that we were on vacation on my bday, but fun nonetheless. We slept in, had our complimentary breakfast in bed delivered and then got ready to go shopping! We spent a better part of the day shopping in the open air market and on King Street. The open air markets were cool, it was like a flea market kinda with crafts and such but also neat souveniors. We got a personalized ornament with sand and sea shells in it and a cool magnet. We ate at this great seafood restaurant called Hyman's for lunch! They have the best hush puppies! I will thank Dr. Hendon for that recommendation. We had to eat an early dinner in order to be at our sailboat by 6:30 so we ate dinner at this restaurant not far from our hotel on Market St. called Mad River Grill. It was ok, they had REALLY seasoned fries but it was fast and affordable.
Part of my birthday present was to go on a sunset sail. We did this on our honeymoon and loved it and as soon as we saw they did them in Charleston we were looking forward to going. We had such a good time. The sunset was incredible and we got some amazing pictures that I will post laster. We took over 1,000 photos on this trip so I doubt you will even see half of them but I will try to post my favs later once I look at all the pictures. After the sail we made it back to our hotel for the evening milk and cookies.
Wednesday:
Time to switch hotels. We were very sad to leave our downtown hotel but we had planned to stay downtown until Wednesday and then spend the rest of the time on Folly Beach (about 15 minutes away). So, Wednesday morning we packed up and went to into Mt. Pleasant to Boone Hall Plantation. This is one of the oldest working plantations in America, it was also where the Notebook was filmed (or part of it at least). This was by far the hottest day of our trip and we were nowhere near the water for a breeze so it was suffocatingly hot! Overall it was still a very fun tour! After the tour we headed to Folly Beach to check into our beachfront hotel. We got there about an hour and a half early and our room wasn't ready because they were booked to capacity that night and the night before. We decided to get a late lunch since we couldn't get into our room. We ate at this local Mexican restuarant Taco Boy- I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! What Mexican restaurant doesn't give chips and salsa? And they had the weirdest food. By the time we got checked in it was time to leave for our photo tour of downtown Charleston so it was back into town. The photography tour was really neat. Our guide was full of interesting information and we got some great photos! Well worth it! By the time it was over at 8 we were hungry again so we headed over to King St. for dinner. We ate at Joe Pasta- again, I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Our meal would have been ok if they hadn't burnt our pizza! And we ordered the build your own pizza, which was $8 and then $1.50 per topping. Well, we got a Chicken and 1/2 black olive pizza with mozzarella and parmesean cheese and they charged us $1.5o for the chicken, again for the olives, and for both cheeses! We paid $6 just for toppings! Geez!
Thursday:
We spent the day on the beach being bums all day Thursday and Friday! It was nice to relax. However, the east coast beaches are a little different. The sand is not as nice and white as the Gulf but it was a beach- we got to play in the ocean and enjoy the water. Friday night we went to the outlets in North Charleston and ended our vacation with a little shopping. We got some good deals on winter clothes that were on clearance.
Overall, this was a wonderful vacation, not too short and not too long! We had a great time just being together and relaxing. I am sad that Jeremy will have to go back to work tomorrow and I have to get busy on some stuff for school. I can't believe there is only 1 month left of summer and it is going to go by so fast!
